McDougall: Mary Jean (nee Murtagh)
Died peacefully on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at the Carveth Care Centre, Gananoque, in her 91st year. Mourning her death are nephew Michael (Ellen) Willoughby, her grand niece Colleen Sabourin (Roger) and the Sabourin children all of London, Ont., and her grand nephew Sean Willoughby (Trudy) of Montreal. Also grieving are grand niece Donna Dickson (David) of Calgary, grand niece Deb Huber (Michael Starks) of Edmonton and their families. Jean was predeceased by her husband John M. McDougall and son Andrew of Montreal, her son John of Toronto, niece Maureen Huber and grand niece Kathleen, both of Edmonton. Prior to her failing sight, Jean was an avid reader of history and biographies, enjoyed playing bridge and loved the challenge of decorating her various homes. Perhaps Jeans greatest pleasure was music. She was a deeply spiritual person, and was a dedicated member of St. John's Church Choir for many years. Jean was reluctant to criticize others and was adept at fostering close relationships. Her special bond with cherished friends Ray Crosby and Gary Cousins stands as an enduring memorial. The staff at Carveth care Centre are to be congratulated for their exemplary care and devotion to Jean. In addition, the considerable attention given to Jean's needs by community Care Access Centre and the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Service was most appreciated. Visitation is on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, Gananoque on Tuesday May 29 at 11:00 am. Rite of committal St. John's Cemetery. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Carveth Resident's Charitable Foundation or to the St. John's Restoration Fund.
