To: Mac,Fran,Mike,Paul,Angie I was shocked to hear of the passing of your mom, I guess because when I think of Betty, I am 10 again in the kitchen in Willowbank and she is making us spagetti pie.It is times like this when I wish we were 10 once more and life was simple. Our hearts go out to you and your family at this very difficult time. I would very much like to come home for the celebration of Betty's life, so please let me know when a date is set up. To Mac, Frances (Mike) , Paul (Angie) Family and Friends: I was saddened to learn of Betty's passing but wanted to honour her by sharing a few words of a wonderful lady who enriched the lives of all who knew her. I first met Mac and Betty Tackaberry when I was in high school at GSS. Though that was 37 years ago it seems like yesterday. There were many fond memories of activities that were sponsored by the Front of Leeds and Lansdowne Recreation Committee such as curling and golf. You always saw the Tackaberry's, Showler's, Hachez's and Buffets socializing and being great friends. Later in life I got to know "Betty" the business person and was always impressed with not only her business acumen but her knowledge, sincerity, and kindness to customers, employees and suppliers. I knew how proud she was of grooming her children to enter the family business. What a TEAM that Mac and Betty were ! I last saw Betty in 2007 while visiting Gananoque from California and was so graciously welcomed to their home for wonderful conversation and refreshments. I never got to see Betty the Grandmother . . . but I am sure she was amazing as she was a Mother and wife. The Dionne Warwick song "That's what friends are for" always made me think of Betty so "and then if you can remember keep smiling and shining". You were a shining light ! I know up in Heaven there is a Tinwoman with a big heart! May God Bless your family at this difficult time.
