Dear Jean and Family, I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of time spent together with Val and Jean at the Playhouse over the years...I lost count of how many thousands of envelopes we stuffed together but there sure were an awful lot of them! Val was the consummate gentleman. He always had a smile on his face when he came into a room and was quick to bring one to mine when I had the good fortune to be in said room alongside him. Keeping you in my thoughts at this most difficult time. Karin

Our thoughts are with Jean and the whole family at this sad time. Val was a good friend to us, as an advisor and as a supporter, and always had an optimistic comment to make.

Val Mody was the first person I worked for, doing yardwork. He was a nice man with a ready smile, and had the considerable patience needed to employ a clumsy kid for the first time. Working for him was a pleasure. He will be missed.

Hello Jean: We are just getting over the fact we no longer have Val in our midst. He was such a kind individual and his sense of humour was one of the best. As you know, our friendship goes back to 1961 when we arrived in Windsor from Halifax, rented a house in Tecumseh, and then Jean(with Chris) and Valerie (with Susan) met at the community mailbox. Many happy days followed on Mody's boat, shopping trips to Detroit and various "do's" at HMCS HUNTER. We were then posted back to the coast and eventually to England for 4 years but we kept in touch ever since in Gan, Kingston and Ottawa. Now we are all getting older and it makes things more difficult getting around as we used to but we always have the telephone! Jean - please keep in touch and if there is anything we can do to assist please feel free to just ask. We shall miss Val terribly but we know he is now at rest after the difficult time he had for the past few years. Our prayers are with you and the family. Love, Russ and Valerie Butler

Dear Jean, David and family: I am so sorry to learn today of your dear husband and Dad's passing. His was a long life and often in the service of others. David, I remember your parents' many visits to TCS and Ketchum House in your time at the School on the Hill. They were always interested in and supportive of you and the School. May you all find solace and comfort in the happy memories of family times together and may these happy days fill the void you feel in your loss. I regret I am unable to be at Val's service on Tuesday. I have made a donation to the TCS library in his memory. David, if you are ever passing by Port Hope, please look me up. Take care.

When I was a Rotary exchange student from Belgium in Gan, I met Val and Jean and had wonderful times with them. I'm extremely grateful to them for their kindness towards me. It was 33 years ago but we kept in touch and they always made me feel welcome in their house. Val was a wonderful Rotary member. He surely had a positive impact on my life when I was still very young and I will preciously keep him in my heart. Dear Jean, David and family, I'm on the other side of the ocean but very much in thoughts with you. Sincerely, Dominique
