Karl was a wonderful friend of Bill since their mining engineering days at U of T. We both enjoyed seeing him regularly since moving to Cobourg 16 years ago. Bill will miss their quarterly lunches in Picton. Gananoque has lost a wonderful and generous citizen.

The loss of Karl is a huge loss to our community. Always a huge supporter of youth in Gananoque, he offered a non-judgemental and sympathetic ear to all, and for every kindness that was extended in the public eye there were ten more that were extended behind closed doors, without fanfare or acknowledgement. His legacy in our town is much more than anything physical that remains after his passing....it's in the lives that he made better with his caring ways and kind words when they were needed the most.

Karl will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him, and appreciated his commitment and dedication to giving time, devotion and a sincere appreciation for people regardless of how long he knew them. He was a genuine person that gave, not because he had to, but because he wanted to. Karl was a gentle giant with a huge heart. God bless you Karl...rest in peace my friend.

Karl, the gentle giant with a heart of gold. I will miss looking down from the choir loft and seeing that big smile you always had for me. I know Bob enjoyed sitting with you each Sunday along with the other "musketeers", sharing a few jokes and the current events at the start and end of church service. Let God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Karl was a partner in the law firm of Fasken Martineau, specializing in Mining Law. As a young lawyer he took me under his wing and introduced me to the many characters in the mining scene in Ontario in the 70's. He was an excellent lawyer, with exceptional skill. Although I did not see much of him after his retirement from the firm in 1991, I have always regarded him as a good friend. I will miss him.

On Wednesday I lost a confidant, role model and mentor. Karl was a man of honour and a piller of his community. Through his giving heart he demonstrated his love for the youths in Gananoque and beyond. He was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. I will miss my dear friend, Kai Liu Chief of Police Cobourg Police Service

A gentle giant of a man who, with his kind ways and soft voice, gave so much to our community whether through his service to the Police Service Board, establishing the Gan. Youth Centre, establishing the BMX facility, his church and on and on...so proud to call him "friend".
