Wright: Robert Walter “Bob” P Eng

Surrounded by his loving family, Bob passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday May 12, 2023 at Providence Care Hospital. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife Deborah (Flurey) of 42 years. He was an adored Father to Brennan (Kait) and Caitlin (Christian). Much loved Gramps to Elliott, Maxwell, Maelle, Lilah and Dominic. He was the youngest brother to Wayne (Grevyne) and Jack (Marie) of BC. Predeceased by his parents Vera and William Wright. Bob was born in Winnipeg, lived in Edmonton and moved to Ontario in his early teens. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in the Aerospace industry in Mississauga until finally deciding to take a risk with a young family and move to Gananoque to start his own business – RW Wright Design – designing custom homes and offering engineering services. He went to Queen’s for a year taking several structural engineering courses. Bob belonged to the Kingston RC racing Club for many decades and his love of a challenge led him to developing several innovative programs and products to enhance the experience for RC car drivers under the banner RC CrewChief. He had the greatest adventure of his life driving in a race car series at Watkins Glen, Calabogie and Shannonville. His quiet and humble manner, curiosity and love of nature endeared him to all who knew him. He will be forever treasured and missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mates, Michelle and all the nurses at the KGH who took such wonderful care of Bob. As well as Dr. Voeuk, Nurses Maralee and Geoffrey at Providence. The family welcomes you to join them in a Memorial Service held at the Tompkins Funeral Home on Saturday May 27 at 11:00 am.
