Bennett: Jack Douglas

Passed away on February 24th, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

 

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy, his daughters Jennifer (Miguel) and Andrea (Kurt), and his grandson Phineas Jack, as well as his brother Steve Bennett (Judy) and sister Candace Bennett Walker (Will). Predeceased by his parents Jack and Florence Bennett and his brother Alan Bennett. Jack was well loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.  

 

Jack was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He attended Niagara District HS and graduated from U of Waterloo in 1973 with a degree in civil engineering. He spent 3 decades with CN Rail across Canada. He finished his railway career as Managing Director of Plasser Canada in Montreal. Jack and Kathy moved to Gananoque, Ontario in 2005 to enjoy the boating life on the St. Lawrence River. He will be missed by his boating buddies at the Ivy Lea Marina where he spent many good times.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (Oncology) or to the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The family is eternally grateful to the PSWs, Nurses and Doctors who cared so kindly for Jack in the last year. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at the Christ Anglican Church on Saturday April 1 at 1:00 pm. .
