Ray and I have known Ted Boughton for many years. Drew, Ted's middle son, married our daughter Erin 21 years ago. Drew is such a fine man and loved and honored his parents. Ted and Kathy you did good!
Ted was a man with such an inquiring mind, an avid reader, always learning. An intelligent man with a listening ear.
We saw Ted pursue his and Kathy's dream of building a log home, which he pursed by himself after Kathy died in 2002. He didn't give up - a man with such tenacity, I call it fearless determination.
Ted battled this cancer for many years and never complained. During one of his treatment sessions in 2005 he and I shared menopausal symptom stories. We so laughed together about that. I told him you are the ideal man - one who would truly be able to understand a menopausal woman! Now that's a rarity!!
Ted loved his two grandkids dearly! Owen our grandson was able to spend time at the log home enjoying the bush and fishing with grandad. Great memories for Owen!
When Erin and Drew were preparing for their wedding, I heard Ted say on more than one occasion - I want that grand daughter please - we have plenty of boys! He did get his wish when Lauren, Drew and Erin's second child was born.
I must say that I now recognize where Lauren gets her fearless determination from!!!
Ted was a fortunate man who saw his dreams realized.
Now Ted you can rest in peace.

How do I do justice to a friendship that lasted over forty years? This friendship grew to a level where Ted and I considered each other, Kathy and Liz, and our children to all be part of the same family. Ted and I shared so many good times together. Whether it was working on an old car or boat, attending a dirt track race, the trip to Pocono to see the NASCAR event, Saturday nights at the cottage or simply having a beer together on the deck overlooking the river.
It is said that the long term friendships that we make enrich our lives. I simply can't measure how much Ted has enriched my family's life. Rest in peace my dear friend and don't forget to say hi to Kathy for us.

Achieving Success
by
Bessie Anderson Stanley
He has achieved success
who has lived well,
laughed often, and loved much;
who has enjoyed the trust of
pure women,
the respect of intelligent men and
the love of little children;
who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
who has left the world better than he found it
whether by an improved poppy,
a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty
or failed to express it;
who has always looked for the best in others and
given them the best he had;
whose life was an inspiration;
whose memory a benediction.
Love and light to your family Ted...It was a blessing to have known you and I am glad you are no longer suffering. Read on my friend!
God Winks requested as those you love prepare to celebrate your life.
Love Nadine

Our thoughts are with Ted's family. Even though separated by miles for the last few years, we have fond memories of fun times shared at the Bingham cottage with Ted, Kathy and the boys. Also sharing canoe trips, hiking and skiing in the Rockies when they lived in Lethbridge. We are happy to see Ted continued to enjoy sharing time in the outdoors with Ryan, Drew, Owen and Lauren and Tyler.
