Peter Ellis posted a condolence

Peter and I worked as friendly competititors in the Publishing industry. When they lived in Ottawa, Peter and Carolyn invited me and Donna and our daughter Lindsay (same age as Noelle) for a weekend at the Gananoque Inn. We left our girls with Peter's Mum and headed over to Alexandria Bay for dinner and a parent's night out. Carolyn and Donna sipped Margaritas in the back of the boat while Peter and I navigated over to A-Bay. After dinner and a few more cocktails, we played some pool and had a great evening catching up. It was well after midnight when we decided to embark on the trip back to Gan - well as we were weaving our way through all 1,000 islands, it seemed as though Peter was a bit lost - unusual for a River Rat - so in the pitch dark, Peter, in his calm, unflappable manner, told me to lie on the bow of the boat with a flashlight and when I saw a rock, to yell "rock" and he would attempt to avoid it - sort of. We eventually made it safely back to the Gan Inn and our young daughters were none the wiser - great memories of Peter and Carolyn - we eventually moved to Oakville to carry on our friendship but then re-located back to Ottawa and lost touch.
Carolyn, we are so sorry for your loss - our condolences to you and Noelle and Sarah and Cameron and the extended family - we have such great memories of you and Peter and your family.
All our love,
Donna, Peter, Lindsay and Taylor Ellis

I went to the McCarney household for years. Sarah has been my friend since age 12. My fondest memory was were some of our friends stayed for dinner. Peter had us laughing the whole time. The moment will not be forgotten. Rest In Peace, Peter ❤️

We were the next door neighbours of Peter and Carolyn for over 35 years on Ulster Dr in Oakville We shared many deep and not so deep conversations over the fence and watched our families grow up. Peter was a thinker and would often ask your opinion on something that was on his mind...the leafs, the jays, politics, history, family. Dave Love, Peter and I enjoyed having brunches in more recent years at El Spero's. I will miss our brunches together and more importantly Peter's friendship. Rest easy Peter

Dear Carolyn, Noelle, Al, Sarah, Dion, Cameron, and Grandchildren,
We are so sorry for the loss of our dear Peter.
Peter was family as soon as he married our dear cousin, Carolyn. It quickly became clear he was a fixture in Gananoque and on the St. Lawrence. Peter was always ready to cruise the river rain or shine. He loved it so much. We appreciated his kindness, love of family, love of fun, and his navigational skills in all the nooks and crannies down to Boldt Castle.
We will miss you, Peter. Cruise with the Angels!!!
Much Love,
Woodie and Lini Stevens

So sorry to hear of Peter's passing. My sympathy to his family. We went to school together at St John's and Gan high and played many sports on the road in the south ward and on the ice at the old canoe club. We grew up together and were part of the old South Ward gang. When I was stationed with the OPP in London we connected and even went tobogganing. He will be missed.

Dear Carolyn and Family,
I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Peter's passing.
Peter and I knew each other very well as classmates all through High School. We had loads of fun together doing a wide variety of things and have very fond memories of all our times together. One event was when we were "drafted" by the local figure skating coach at the time to act as skating clowns at a skating event in Westport where Gan's team was expected to, and did very well in competitions. It was strange that we were asked, because neither of us had anything to do with figure skating - maybe we were just heavy on the Clown side:) Had a great time and lots of laughs. Sincerely, Alan Bickerton
