Larry Leroy Steacy
September 3, 1947 - June 26, 2022
The Steacy family of Gananoque is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Larry
Leroy Steacy (age 74), peacefully and surrounded by family on June 26, 2022 in Kingston.
Larry was a loving and devoted husband of 47 years to Sharron (Snider), Proud father to
David (Amber Baker), and the late Michael. Born in Picton and raised in Glenburnie, Larry
was the son of the late Lorne and Freida. Larry was a graduate of Queen's University Law class of 1972. He successfully completed
his BAR exam and opened his own law firm (Steacy & Delaney) in 1974. Larry became a
very prominent figure during his business years, holding positions such as Head Chairman
of the Leeds Grenville Public School Board, member of Gananoque town council, The
Children's Lawyer of Eastern Ontario, and member of the Consent and Capacity board of
Ontario. Although a man of many responsibilities, Larry's endless sense of humour and
one-and-only smile will be remembered by everyone he met. Larry was passionate about
helping others and community involvement. He enjoyed having placement students at
Steacy & Delaney, and he coached local baseball, soccer and hockey teams that his boys
played on. Larry was a loving brother to Jim (Sheila), Laurie (Nathan Bradley), Lynn Gilbert,
and the late Ronald. He will be missed by his brother in law Brian Snider (Carole) and Brian
Donaldson. Grandfather to Keira Steacy. Uncle to Steacy Wood (Paul), Bryce Donaldson,
Lacy Gilbert, Dustin Gilbert, Kevin Snider and the late Jason Snider.
A Cremation and a private family service will be held at the Gananoque Cemetery. A
celebration of life for Larry is being planned and will be announced soon.
Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville or the
Christ Anglican Church of Gananoque.
