I was deeply saddened to hear about John's illness and subsequent passing. John was a super person to have as a friend. He was generous he was humorous he was caring and he was real. He was always real he didn't sugarcoat anything with you. John loved life! John spoke lovingly about the affection he had for his daughters his grandchildren and his wife Cathy. He was a dedicated and loving husband a caring father a proud grandfather. I will certainly miss the times we used to go to Peters restaurant together for breakfast. John was an excellent conversationalist. There was never a dull moment when he was around you. John didn't believe in small talk. A conversation with John was meaningful. A conversation with John usually contain the moral to the story. John loved to help other people. He didn't think twice about helping out a fellow businessman which I was at the time. Inventory that he could have gotten money for he gave to me for it no charge. He was always thinking of the other person more than himself. Just say that John was a larger-than-life is an understatement. What began as a business relationship quickly evolved into a close personal friendship with John. He was that kind of a guy. He was real. He was honest. These characteristics are rare in a person and they are becoming more rare nowadays. As we all miss him I know that he is reunited with his mother and his father. John was a Believer and I know where he is he is with the Lord right now. We are down here on Earth missing him but he is in heaven and that is a much better place. There's no more suffering for John to endure. I will really miss him he was a dear dear friend. My deepest condolences to his children his grandchildren and to his wife Cathy.

John will be dearly missed. Loved his entrepreneurship, free spirit, unique personality and humour. Always seeking to help others. He played big in this world and stepped forward to experience life. You had great support by your side and tremendous love from Cathy. You opened your doors and made us feel all like family. Miss you John.

I was lucky to have John as a friend. I wouldn't be here if he wasn't. I was on the 416 highway coming home from work. It was minus 30 degrees outside. My car broke down at kilometre 22 between Kemptville and Spencerville, a very lonely stretch of road. I couldn't get a tow truck, 911 was too busy, and CAA said I would have to wait 4 hours. I was dressed in a suit for work. It was too far to walk anywhere. It was dark. As hypothermia set in and I had almost dozed off, I heard pounding on my car window. It was an angel named John. He had come out to search for me. I would have frozen to death that night if not for John. He was a friend you could count on in any situation...Jim Quinn

So sorry to hear about John's passing. My sympathy goes out to Cathy and the Hnatchuk family. I will remember John for his story-telling. Nobody could tell a funny story like John. They were all true and they all involved John, which made them even funnier. John was so animated as he related his stories. He had a way with words that would have you laughing until you were in tears. I will truly miss our visits...Cathy Bush
