Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marlene Ellen Knock January 1, 1960- February 26, 2021 Marlene Ellen Knock was one kind-hearted, generous, and loving lady. She was cherished and loved by so many, as a dear wife, dedicated mother, kind daughter, caring sister, and most of all a true and helpful friend. Many came to rely on her when in need and although she would give others the world if she could, she often kept her own challenges and hardships rested upon her own shoulders. Born in London, Ontario to her parents Edwin and Theresa Semple. She spent most of her childhood life living in Brighton, Ontario, a small town not far from where she resided for most of her remaining life, Kingston and Gananoque Ontario. Marlene loved her parents deeply and although they passed on they lived on in her heart and memories, until the very end of her own life. Marlene’s world was her husband, Mark. He was her person, confident, and best friend. Much of her time and energy was spent taking care of him in the best ways she knew how. They were married June 27th 1981 and this was easily one of the happiest days of her life. She held that day dear every year and was looking forward to celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Mark and Marlene had come to form a kind of bond and marriage that many can only hope to have. It was not perfect but it was solid and strong. They had found the kind of love that went above and beyond for each other. For the better part of her life, she dedicated herself to being a mother to Danielle and JJ (Jeffrey). In their younger years she kept active in their lives and kept them close by being involved at their school Fairfield Elementary, and by being a stay-at-home mom who was always there when they needed her. She was proud and cared for both her children and only wanted the best for them in life. She had a special bond with both of her children and continued to worry and care for them every day. Throughout her years she was first and foremost a wife and mother. Marlene also loved her god, Jehovah. She had a strong faith that was not broken and loved him for the gifts he gave to her in life, her family, her friends, and her animals. She was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness and dedicated her life to him through water baptism. The values and principles from the bible had been instilled in her from day one and she felt strongly about her faith, basing her life decisions on what she came to learn was best. She died having a wonderful hope that there was a future after death and that someday we would all return to a paradise earth without the suffering and troubles of the world today. Marlene had a bigger family growing up, with two older brothers Jim and Russell, a dear sister Darlene and a younger brother Kevin. While like many families who become busy with raising their own families and building their own lives, Marlene cared and worried for them deeply and kept them close in her heart along with all the extended family that had been collected with time. When Marlene was young, she traveled with her family for a special occasion, an assembly organized for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Flint Michigan. This is where she met her very best friend Rayne who became the friend who she told everything to. They were two big-hearted women who leaned on each other in times of heartache and need. Each of them had huge health struggles and were both lost at a younger age than many. Their families will forever be intertwined as the connection and bond was developed deeper than their friendship alone and was unbreakable. In addition to her own family, Marlene cared deeply for her extended family through Mark, viewing them like her own. Her Mother-in-law Janet and Father-in-law Evan were very important to her, along with Mark’s siblings Rose, Charlie, Ted, and Heidi. She valued the times when the family would get together and loved them all deeply. It is hard to describe Marlene in just a few short sentiments, there are so many other family members and friends she loved dearly. Some who she had lost and some who will be missing her greatly. Anyone who knows her knows how much she loved cats, especially her own kitties. She loved to travel, even though she did not get to as much as she would like. She was an original, and a big kid at heart. Her end was quick, and her family can only take comfort in knowing that she did not suffer. She will be missed deeply by so many and there are no words to convey the real deep empty place she has left. Please remember her as the kind and caring person she was.
