Obituary of Carol Ruby Catherine Empey

Empey, Carol Ruby Catherine (née Rathwell)

Passed away peacefully at her home in Gananoque on Wednesday, June 27^th, 2018. At 59 years-old, Carol will be remembered and is survived by: her two children, Travis Empey and Danielle Manley (Empey), son-in-law Joey Manley and her first grandchild Jackson Thomas Manley who she was blessed to meet before her passing; Travis and Danielle’s father, Jim Empey, Carol’s sister, Kathy Havekes, brother-in-law, Jim Havekes, and her mother Lola Rathwell (Allen Rathwell); Carol’s many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Always a lover of nature and the St. Lawrence River, Carol will be celebrated in weeks to come by close family and friends. In her memory here is a quote Carol left behind: “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness and a deep loving concern.
