Obituary of Aubrey Jeffries

Jeffries: Aubrey Thomas (Masonic Royal Standard Lodge #398, U.G.L.E. Halifax, NS, Shrine Club, WWII Merchant Navy) Peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Wednesday September 14, 2011. Aubrey Jeffries beloved husband of 69 years to Verna Mott. Loving father of Grace Goodall and Bob and his beloved daughter in law Freda. Dearest Grandfather of Jeffry (Fonda), Jaime and her husband Yannick, Kate, Robert and Spencer. A special thanks to niece Sandra and Bob Fader for their life long love and caring. Fondly remembered by several nieces & nephews all across Canada. Raised in Cobalt helping his father in their bakery, at 16 he apprenticed to the Bellis and Morcom Machine works in Birmingham, England. He returned to Ontario's north to work at the Wright Hargreaves Mine in Kirkland Lake. He left the north to join the Merchant Navy early in the war. At the close of war he began a progressive and successful career working for power generating utilities; Ontario Power, Hydro Quebec, New Brunswick Power, and Nova Scotia Power retiring in 1985. He was particularly proud of his work and associates for New Brunswick's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Facility. Aubrey was extraordinarily proud of his family to whom he committed his retired life. A life lived so boldly, never to be forgotten. A memorial service will be held at the Tompkins Funeral Home 63 Garden St. Gananoque on Saturday September 17 at 1 O'clock. A masonic service will be held at the Funeral Home at 12:45 pm.
