Elrid was our neighbour for only 3 years but in those three years we came to know and love him. He was a smiling face in a new town, the first to welcome us. He knew my father and worked with him and told us he had attended the memorial service for him. That mean't a lot to us as we didn't attend, we didn't know about the service till afterwards. He apparently served with my Dad overseas and later worked with him. We feel a sense of loss but at the same time we feel enriched for having known him if only for a brief time. To his family, his long time friends, and his fellow Legion members our deepest sympathies. Our eternal gratitude as well for the sacrifices he made for us and our country overseas. Tonight a shining star burns brightly in the Heavens for a life well lived, may it shine on us for eternity and remind us all of a kind and gentle man.
