Mary, I was saddened and shocked to hear of Marty's passing. It is always so difficult when a loved one is taken from us so suddenly. My thoughts are with you, Drew and all your family. Marty was always an inspiration to me at Glenford Paper. I truly enjoyed working with him as he always challenged me to reach new heights, and almost convinced me to move to Australia! I trust that you will find a measure of peace in the days ahead as your memories help to comfort you. With Deepest Sympathy, Elaine

Although we are not right in your area on the island, and didn't have the opportunity to get to know Marty, we always heard what good neighbours you both were. So take comfort in your friends and family during this very sad time. Our thoughts are with you. Irene and Jim Ellerton (Spithead Rd)

Mary....It is with the deepest sympathy that I send this message. Marty was always a great inspiration for me back in those days of the 80's and into the 90's. Quite often I would seek his advice as Marty could make sense out of lot of situations. Marty was instrumental in me deciding to court my former wife which resulted in my greatest miracle.....the twins Alex and Holly. We also had a LOT of laughs together. What a great guy! Thanks Marty and God bless. Mary,Drew, and family, may you find the strength and faith to get through this difficult period. Chris Stapley

Dear Family; I did not know you well but having known Marty since he arrived back from Australia with an old friend of mine, I have had nothing but appreciation and respect for him. As life would have it, our paths crossed in business where he was a perfect example of honesty and fairness and in hockey where he was a stalwart competitor and a great guy. My condolences..............and my respect. David

I wish to express my condolences to you and your family. I went to school with Marty - actually we were in the same classes for grade 12. We had a lots of good laughs especially in English class doing MacBeth. It was only last month that I found out that you were good friends with Don and Maragret. She phoned my sister to let me know about Marty. I know it will be a hard time for all but remember how lucky you were to have loved each other and to be in each other's lives. We are all richer for having known him. Sincerely, Nancy Randall

Our sincere condolences to all members of Marty's family at Marty's sudden death. Joan has fond memories of Marty as a little boy when she as a constant visitor at his home with Helen was referred to as "our other daughter" by Marty's mother. He endured many teasings by Helen, Donna and Joan, but despite that, we understand he grew up to be a nice adult! We know what an awful shock this must be to you all and we hope that at the Celebration of his Life Service (and in the days to come), God's comforting presence will rest upon you all. Gord and Joan Lever, Markham, Ontario.
