I have known Dorothy for about 8 years when I took one of my dogs to be tested as a St John Therapy Dog. Since then Dorothy tested two more of my dogs and was a huge support to me over the years. She was very dedicated to the Therapy Dog Program and was outraged when the Province of Ontario refused to give one of my dogs a Volunteer Award! I also have horses and Dorothy mentioned to me a couple of times that she wished she could learn to ride. I will imagine that she is riding now, over the Rainbow Bridge.

I have read the condolences received and feel I need to thank you all for showing me a side of my sister I never really understood. It truly touched me that so many sincerely cared for Dorothy, the person that she was, that part of her I really didn't understand. You were all her other "family" that she cherished. Bless you all, thank you for letting me understand Dorothy and I can honestly say I find a unexplainable peace knowing that she has indeed crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" and has a huge grin from ear to ear! Bless you Dorothy, I will miss you. Your sister Cathie

To the Family of Dorothy: I was honored to have had the opportunity to e-mail Dorothy rather consistently until our e-mail servers began having problems with one another and blocked our communications. Dorothy and I tried so hard to reinstate communication but we couldn't. We resorted to sending correspondence through Cheryl Gillian of Nebadon Bouviers. She was a remarkable human being. She so loved her Bouviers and she was so involved with the community. I found her caring and loving and supportive of newcomers and she knew everything about Bouviers of course. She was a wonderful woman, kind and loving, willing to share everything she knew, and I would have liked to have known her in person. I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. My sincere regrets. Our sincere condolences to Dorothy's family. I cannot believe you are gone, Miss Dorothy. With you the Bouvier community lost a true gem and genuine lover and defender of the breed. We never met in person, but I will always cherish our e-mails and phone conversations. You were there for anyone in need, for questions and guidance, or just to lend an ear and to let one know YOU cared. I will miss you, Miss Dorothy, but I know that you are now having a blast with all the fourlegged ones that went before you, and have been patiently waiting for you to join them. Until we meet again past that Bridge, Dagi American Bouvier Rescue League TX Chapter

Dear May and family, I was never fortunate enough to meet Dorothy over the years since we lived in different countries and thousands of miles apart, but she came to be a dear friend despite the distances. She was a treasure in the Bouvier world with her many years of experience, her devotion to the breed, and especially because she was so willing to share her knowledge with others. Dorothy and I corresponded over the years, sharing our passion for pedigrees, and she was kind enough to share information with me that simply was not available elsewhere. For that I will always be grateful. Certainly there have been joyous reunions at the Rainbow Bridge this week. Kind regards, Sue Matthews Echo Bouviers Hillsboro, OR

I only knew Dorothy via the Bouvier e-mail lists given how far apart we lived (I'm in Iowa/USA) but I always felt that I "knew" her. Her compassion and her knowledge always came through...I always read what she had to write! Kathy (Heilenman)
