In fond memory we will remember Uncle Walt. We are thankful for the visit we had with him this summer. Things I remember: His special talents as a craftsman. Canoes and bird houses. His knowledge of the river and the islands. I'm glad I have the book of the islands with a great picture and story about him and the river. Him tooling us around as youngsters in his pick up. Going to the boat and Niagara Island. His putting up with the "yankee" relatives. His energy and determination. His beautiful family he helped to create with our wonderful aunt, his wife, Ruby. It's hard losing the wise ones. Hopefully we've learned a lot from them to help carry the torch. As John says "We are coming up to bat." Prayers to Walt on his next journey. Prayers to all of us who will miss him. We'll look forward to seeing him again. I'll be happy that he is now with Ruby, Jack (my dad), and all those who have passed already. I wish I could be there to give you all a hug. See you next summer at the river where we'll all remember Walt forever. Love, Sheryl & John

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of Walter.He was brought into my life and heart with stories relayed about his H.M.C.S. Georgian experiences, on which my father also served. Walter's quest for knowledge about the rescued air crew has led me on to seek answers, and there is still so much more to learn. I regret that Walter did not get to receive the copy of the newspaper clipping detailing the rescue, which arrived in Gananoque on Wednesday. I am sorry that I will not be able to share any new discoveries with Walter, through Geraldine, but I am thankful that she has shared his stories with me.
