My sympathies to you, Bernie, and your daughters. I had the pleasure of working with Roger on a couple of projects early on in my career at Alcan and was happy to work for him in Industry Analysis in his last 6 years at Alcan. He was a terrific boss and mentor, sharing his great knowledge of the aluminum industry and his sense of humour.

Dear Bernie, I just received the news of the sudden departing of Roger. Kindly receive my saddened sympathy of loss of your dear husband. You may not remember...but Roger invited to spend a evening at home. You both had achieved major works to improve and expand your home with a marvellous view on Oka. It was a privilege to be with him and you sharing the grace and love of our families at home. Roger is a trustfully friend and adviser sometimes ready to place a joke to alleviate the air! While passing through Montreal I did not miss the opportunity to try to pay a visit in his office. Seeing him brought back instantly a smile on my face. Irrespective of the problems he or we were encountering , he was opened to hear mine and lough of our infortune. He is one of the very rare "correct Guy". When he made his adieu trip. We met in Brussel and spent the rest of the day together enjoying what we knew was the last day prior his return to you and your daughters. I show him off at Brussels Airport...with still a hope to see him. Please remain assure that He and family will be kept in my thoughts and prayers. I am specially with you today. Henri de Foy

Our deepest sympathies to all his loved ones. I had the privilege to succeed him at Alcan when Roger selected to retire. Roger was a tough act to follow: he was brilliant, insightful and always ready to share his deep knowledge of the industry. Roger was dearly missed when he retired from Alcan's Department of Industry Analysis. He will be missed even more now.

Bernie, It's been a long time since I've worked with the folks at Alcan, but I have kept in touch with a few in and peripheral to the company. Nick Adams informed me of this true tragedy. My heart goes out to you and your girls and grandchildren. I can only imagine the strength of your bond and the depth of your sorrow from the few Aluminum Association Statistical Committee boondoggles I was able to see the two of you together. You were a lovely couple, he was a kind and extraordinary man, and I am deeply saddened hearing the news. Sue (and Jim) Swift

Dear Bernie, We were so saddened to hear of Roger's death when we got back from vacation at the weekend. Our condolences to you and the girls. What I(Elma) will remember about Roger was his enthusiasm and positiveness in all he did, whether it was building the sun room, heating the house with wood (Vermont Castings I remember) or organising you all on Saturdays to clean the house. 8 man or women hours was all that was needed I remember him saying. When I spoke to John, his memory was of Roger in the pool playing with the 4 kids and everyone having a ball. With best wishes, Elma and Geoff.
