Obituary of Norah Phoebe Ethelyn Jackson

JACKSON, Norah Phoebe Ethelyn (Storey) Of Gananoque, a remarkable woman and marvellous mother, died on Thursday, October 31, 2002, at the age of 90. Born in Brockville on May 29, 1912, Norah later lived in Port Arthur and Winnipeg. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1935, and moved to Gananoque in 1936. She was predeceased by her husband Russell Arthur Jackson of Gananoque, her parents Thomas and Donald Storey of Winnipeg, and sister Janet Leckie of Victoria. Norah is also survived by her three children - Janet Armstrong (Russel) of Acton, ON, George Jackson (Heather) of Gananoque, and Evelyn Haskell of Cobourg. Ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren have lost a terrific grandma. She will also be missed by her sisters-in-law, her nieces and nephews, and many friends. Norah contributed her time and a multitude of talents to the work of Grace United Church in Gananqoue, the KGH Hospital Auxiliary, the Cancer Society, and the Gananoque Historical Society, among others. Until a fall and subsequent stroke on New Year's Day, 2000, she lived independently and worked at Jackson's Jewellers in Gananoque. She received excellent care at St. Mary's of the Lake since February 2000. Funeral services will be held at the Tompkins Funeral Home, Gananoque on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment Gananoque Cemetery.
