I had a delightful email correspondence with Eunice over the 10 years before she left Vancouver. A friend of Sherri’s since 1969 (Newcastle days), I wasn’t surprised to meet a strong, amusing and unique lady (much like her daughter!) through the written word. Eunice took a kind and genuine interest in my family and life in London and, often, in updates on royal gossip. Leigh and I visited her in Vancouver in 2004, spending one enjoyable morning in her company. Our first grandchild was born this year and Sherri sent a touching poem written by Eunice called “The Birds and the Bees”. The last verse goes- “Then a wise old owl with a knowing wheeze Flew ‘mongst the mixed-up birds and bees Raised his right wing and swore an oath And solemnly the truth he quoth. “Who, how, when, where, the facts are these- Babies grow on family trees” “
