BROWN, LILIAN THERESA peacefully passed away with her family at her bedside
on March 7, 2011 at 4:10pm at the Kingston General Hospital. Beloved Mother
to Gregory (Victoria), Janice (Patrick), Jeffrey (Courtney) and Gordon, MP.
Cherished Nana to Nicole, Colin, Sean, Graeme, Chancellor; and fondly
remembered by her friend Lois. Lilian was born on December 19, 1932 in
England and moved to Scotland as a child. She immigrated to Toronto in 1954
with her husband, the late Sydney Brown and on September 1, 1970, the family
moved to Gananoque. Lilian was a local business woman and Innkeeper for
over 40 years. Recently celebrating her 78th birthday, Lilian was
hardworking and dedicated to her business. Her involvement in the
day-to-day operations was evident up until a sudden medical emergency on
December 26, 2010. She will be remembered by friends, many employees, and
especially her family as one of the most stunningly beautiful, determined,
respected, strong, warmhearted and loving woman of her time. Lilian and
family are grateful to all the doctors, nurses, caregivers and volunteers at
the Kingston General Hospital who were so kind and caring during the last
few months. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the United Way of
Leeds and Grenville (PO Box 576, Brockville, ON K6V 5V7); The Gananoque and
District Humane Society; or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario in
Lilian Brown's honor would be appreciated by the family. A private family
celebration of Lilian's life will be held at Tompkins Funeral Home in
Gananoque and Lilian will be laid to rest at the Gananoque Cemetery.
