Heather and Bill, Cathy and Ev, lived across from me on Oak Street and for many years I dashed across the street to play at "Cathy's house". I still remember the smell of "Mrs. Oakley's" kitchen and the warm cookies right out of her oven. This was my second home for many years. Cathy and I played in her "attic" with our dolls and made mud pies under her back step, and played dress-up for many happy hours, putting on our own grand productions of the musicals of the day. Birthdays shared, the loving times, I remember their home just as well as my own, every nook and cranny. Her Dad and mine were gentle souls who worked hard all their lives in their businesses on main street, Gan. I was always welcomed into their home with smiles and warmth, times that will always remain special to me as part of such a happy childhood. My condolences go out to everybody, especially my dear girlfriend, Cathy. I wish I could be there to give you all a big hug. Know that you are in my thoughts... Love, Gwen Ann (Calgary)
