Obituary of Fred Sykes

Sykes: Fred Royal Regiment of Canada (WW2) Royal Canadian Regiment (Korea) Service in Infantry Peacefully passed away at the Carveth Care Centre with his family by his side on Wednesday July 8, 2009. Fred Sykes, in his 89th year, beloved husband of 63 years to Hilda Newell. Loving father of Bob (Mary Zurrer), Sharon Clarke, Doug Sykes, Laura Dopp (Barry), and Justin Sykes (Teri Wing). Predeceased by 1 daughter Marilyn Sykes. Cherished grandfather of Leslie, Craig and Erin Sykes, James and Lauren Clarke, Sean and Ryan Dopp and Alex and Michael Wing. Dear brother of Marion Greene and David Sykes. Predeceased by 1 brother Beric Sykes and by 1 sister Elizabeth Omen. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home 63 Garden Street Gananoque on Friday from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held in our chapel on Saturday July 11 at 11:00 am. Interment Olivet Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Gananoque legion Br# 92 or to the Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family. Gananoque Legion Br# 92 will hold a service in the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:45.
