Obituary of Mary Lawrence

Lawrence: Mary Yaroslava Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital on Monday September 19, 2016. Mary Wowk in her 82nd year beloved wife and partner of 62 years to James J. Lawrence. As equal partners, we were able to achieve our agreed upon goals and enjoy the rewards in our working and retirement years. Loving mother to Debra Grant, Denise Galashan (Tim), David (Katherine) and Joseph (Anne). Grandmother to Kyle (Natasha), Ashley, Lauren (Desi), Timothy, Katie (Dave), Christopher, Justin, Michael and Kiera. Dear Great grandmother of Finn Grant. Dear sister of Raymond Wowk (Janet). Mary is predeceased by her parents Harry and Ksenia Wowk and one brother Nester. Also survived by several sisters in laws and nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of St. Paul the Apostle Church 1111 Taylor-Kidd Blvd Kingston on Monday from 11:00am to 12:45pm followed by Mass of Christian burial at 1 O'clock. A private family Rite of committal will be held in Cataraqui cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the U.H.K.F. (St. Mary's Palliative care ) or to CBI Home Health (Palliative care). Mary was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church for 30 years, and a member of the women's group for a number of years, she was musically inclined (piano). She also learned to dance (Ballet) and participated in a number of Ukrainian events in her younger years. She also was a dental assistant for many years. At the tender age of 40 Mary obtained her Nursing Diploma (R.P.N) and work at the Scarborough General Hospital in the Obstetrics unit. Most importantly, we want to express our most sincere thanks to all of the palliative care staff at CBI, CCAC, and St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital for their professional, courteous and respectful care Mary and our family received.
