Dear Gretchen, Mary and Tina, I was so saddened to read about Bud's passing away. I always enjoyed Bud and Betty Bishop teasing each other in the Town Hall back in the good old days. He was quite a man and a very good officer who knew the town inside out, along with everyone in it. He was always a true gentleman with me in our dealings together at the Town Hall and I appreciated his patience. Although I hadn't seen him much in the past few years because our paths did not cross any more, I had a great visit with him back in November and I truly enjoyed it. I'm so glad I was able to share that time with him and catch up a bit. Our deepest sympathies to all of you and take care.

I knew Bud thru the Brockville Golden Triangle club. As a new club member Bud went out of his way to make me feel most welcome. I was also much closer in age to him than most of the club members - and we hit it off right away. I looked forward each visit to seeing Bud there, and his dog. The Huntley family will mourn and miss Bud - and so will I. Bud Huntley - left the range. Ian Nixon - Winchester ON.

Dear Gretchen Utmost condolences to you and your family on Bud's passing. As you know he was quite a character and generous to a T. We young coppers would sometimes have a laugh at some of the crazy sayings he came up with, and I will never forget the saying" if I'd have my druthers, I'd druther.... But the thing is, he'd forgotten more things about the community than I'd ever know. He amazed me with some of the history of this person and that person, and he helped me considerably. Don't get me wrong we disagreed on a number of things, but ultimately he always had your back. Take care Richard

Gretchen and family: My heart goes out to all of you in the loss of your dear husband, father and grandfather. I remember Ken's generosity in donating his incredible decoys to be raffled to raise funds for the Get Well Gang, to send the chemo caps to where they were needed.

Chris and I wish to send our love & condolences out to Gretchen, Mary and Tina, Des & John Jr at this most difficult time. We have many fond memories of Bud. Not all may know but Bud had quite the sense of humour. When Gretch & I worked together, Bud would often be patrolling the streets on duty. My desk was in the front window and just for kicks he'd tap on the window to scare the heck out of me. I'd jump every time, which he thought was hilarious. So he did it often. I'd watch him go on down the street with out skipping a beat. He was a generous and kind man, often over the year giving us things he thought we could use such as windows, decoys or a jug of cleaner he didn't need. When Chris would drop in to pick up whatever he was giving us, Bud always had a story which Chris loved to hear. Farewell Bud it was an honour knowing you. (PS & eating your egg salad sandwiches!) Love Chris and Cath Wright

On behalf of the Kingston & District Trap Skeet and Sporting Clays Club, the members would like to offer our condolences to the family. Bud was a staple of experience at our facility and his stories would always truly amaze the members. His skills for refinishing firearms and carving of wood decoys were second to none. He will be truly missed. Rest easy Ken.

Gretchen, Mary, Tina and Family: I was deeply saddened to learn today of Kenneth H. "Bud" Huntley's passing. I often look back fondly to the joy Bud brought me in my high school years. Without his tutelage it would have been far less enjoyable. Forty three years ago I had the privilege of being neighbors with the Huntley's. Without Bud, I am sure my parents would have never had the years of enjoyment of breeding raising, training, showing, field trialing and hunting with their German Shorthaired Pointers. Bud's professionalism in policing brought safety to the community and leadership to the Gananoque Police Department for many years. However, that income allowed him to pursue his passion for the outdoors and I never knew a better sportsman in my life. An accomplished duck decoy carver, skeet shooter, upland and waterfowl hunter he is and will always be a legend in Ontario's hunting, field trialing and carving circles. The years and miles have kept us apart but the memories and funny moments have never left I will treasure and share for a lifetime. Beneath that gruff exterior was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. Thank you Bud for being a mentor to me. I am pleased that we had a visit last year on the porch. It seemed like time had never passed. I wished we could have done it again this year. No words can express how your passing has created a void here on Earth but reunited you with your only son John. Enjoy the happy hunting grounds Bud, you made a difference in your short time here with us.
