Jean and my mother, Doris Ethel Hawke MacPherson, were best friends from early childhood and Jean was my mother's Maid of Honour. We lived in Ottawa until I was three and Jean and "Uncle Earle" lived within five minutes of us. Jean remained in my life always and once a year, on my annual trip to Gananoque, my cousin Jane Hawke Taylor and I would visit her. Jane saw her often and was a constant in Jean's life to the end. With love.
