I played with Stan in the 411 Squadron,Royals, and Queen's Own Rifles bands in the early 1970s. He was the most perfect fellow horn player. My condolences to his family. I will always remember him as the gentleman he was.

My memories of Stan go back to even before i joined the artillery band - pre 1971 when I used to visit Martha and Jack and attend RCA band concerts at the CNE.
How can I forget the bus trips (refreshment enhanced of course) and the great after concert parties at your place in Scarborough.
I recall one trip in particular that involved a taxi ride on the 'highway of heroes" though we were not the heroes in this case. Stan insisted, and rightly so, that a decent meal be provided for the band who up 'til this point had been offered only quicky sandwiches. He was 100% right and George Jack and yours truly agreed. However there was a bus load of young troopers insisting on getting back to Toronto asap, so the bus left. This was an interesting development. What do we do now? Well a quick trip to an ATM and we were on our way home in a taxi having paid the driver cash up front.. Our leader, who obviously felt some guilt, sheepishly called our wives when the bus arrived in Toronto and to his surprise and probably relief he was greeted with laughter and "the silly so and sos, serves them right."
Stan anchored the RCA horn section for many years, kept a close eye on deportment within the band and was one of only a few who sustained the RCA band during the lean years as well as the great years and there were some low years. He was also a mentor to many of the younger players.
He was a good friend.
With deepest sympathy,
Don and Cathy Mincoff.
