It would indeed be presumptuous of me to speak on behalf of generations of students who had the good fortune to be in a class with Mr. Smith, (or "AP" as he was known, in my graduating year, 1969.) I am saddened by news of his passing. "AP" was one of those teachers who had a significant impact on ones' future...to understand and enjoy literature, to develop a love to read, an appreciation of the "Queens language", (read grammer and spelling)as well as his soft spoken style. I guess I could go on about Mr. Smith, but he warned us about dangling particples and such.... "Make your point and move on!" AP will be missed indeed! My condolences to the family and be proud.
