Dear brother Gerald: The sad news of Jeanne's death came to me late last night, upon my return from a winter holiday with my son, Douglas. It came as such a shock that I can think of nothing else. I realize that Jeanne had health problems, but she seemed so well the last time we gathered at Doug's place, that I felt everything was under control. Although distance has separated our family, I have always felt the familial bonds and Jeanne was always a very special sister-in-law. I admired her warm and winning manner, her kind and gentle spirit, her poise and her beautiful smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jerry, for I know how difficult these days can be. Be assured that time does bring healing and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Special blessings to Kim, Michelle and Cameron. May you all find comfort in the promise of our faithiful Creator. Sister/Aunt Greta

We were very sad to hear of Mrs. Huffman's passing. Jeanne was a wonderful and gracious woman having a generous spirit. I recall her dedicated support to the Box Grove United Church, the UCW and other community groups and functions. I will also remember what a terrific cook she was and how generous she was with sharing her baking! I also know that my mother counted Jeanne among her closest neighbourhood friends and she was a wonderful support to our family when our mother passed away. Robert Mitchell

Dear Gerry, Kim, Michelle & Cameron
It is with a very heavy heart that we write this tribute to Jeanne. She opened up her home to create the most amazing memories with the Huffman reunions. Our birthdays were recognized in such a special way due to her generosity and caring. What an amazing role model as an Aunt! Her beauty inside and out is reflected in this incredible picture as well as in our hearts. May you always feel her presence and know that she is at peace. Love, Chris, Elsie, Lois, Sharon, Gloria, Sheila & Paul

I was very saddened to hear of Mrs. Huffman’s passing. She was one of my favourite neighbours growing up in Box Grove. I will always remember her walking the circle every morning while we waited for the school bus, with Whitey trailing behind her. She always had a smile on her face, and a warm greeting for us, even when it wasn’t that warm outside! Halloween was a special time, and we always looked forward to going to the Huffman’s. She made us young ones feel welcomed and valued at the Church events, and especially the craft sales (and her apricot squares were delicious!) She was a lovely lady, and our childhoods were more special because of her. My love and sympathies go to the Huffman family, and to all who's lives she touched

Dear Huffman Family; With heavy hearts we send our love and condolences to you on the passing of dear Jeanne. Mere words cannot express what a thoughtful and gracious lady she was. We have many warm memories of her years here in Box Grove, and her stellar work with the UCW. She was one of a kind and our village is not the same since you moved east. Her kindness changed the lives of many. I regret that I never took the time to tell her how much I loved and respected her – she was my role model. We shall keep you in our hearts and prayers. To Jeanne – Happy trails to you until we meet again Edna

It is with deepest sympathy that we heard of Auntie Jeanne's passing. Our hearts and sympathies go out to Gerry, Kim, Michelle, Cam and family. We are mourning the loss of a most special Aunt who will always be remembered as the most kind, generous and loving woman. Auntie Jeanne had one of those personalities that would light up a room upon arrival, and she had the ability to make a perfect stranger feel like one of the family. We will miss her warmth and compassion for life and those around her.

Dear Gerry, Kim, Michelle and Cameron, We are so very sad to hear this news. Of course as next door neighbours on Rouge River Circle, each member of the Mitchell family were recipients of Jeanne's kindness and generosity. Your mom and your Dad always made us feel so very welcome in your home. My mother always said that Jeanne was the best cook she ever knew! Thirty years later I still recall with great pleasure her butter tarts and "monster" cookies!
