Turner: Doris

Born June 11, 1923 in Pembroke, Ontario. The family of Doris Turner (nee Schimmens) sadly announce her passing on Thursday August 29, 2013 peacefully at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. Survived by her son James (Jim) Reid and daughter in law Judy Ann. Grandchildren Kristin Gorr-Steeves (Shane), Brandon Gorr, Regina, Nathan Gorr (Darlene), Caledon, son in law Dennis Gorr (Karen), Pembroke and 3 great grandchildren. Step mother of Bob Turner, Eric Turner and Wendy Turner-Jackson. Survived by sister in law Muriel Cowie and Margaret O’Donnell of New Brunswick and her nieces and nephews. Also survived by her extended family Sharon and Gary, “Nan” to Averyl (Kevin) and Ryan, plus 3 “Great grandchildren”. Predeceased by husband(s) Ray Reid and John Turner, daughter Nancy Reid-Gorr and her brother Roy Schimmens. In keeping with Doris’ wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Pembroke, Ontario. A sincere thank you to the staff at Fox Run By-The-River Retirement Residence, Gananoque for their wonderful care, kindness and support. AFTER GLOW I’d like the memory of me be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I’d like to leave the echo of happy times and bright sunny days whispering softly down the hallways, I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind.
