Obituary of Jack Hatch

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Edwin Arthur (Jack) Hatch

December 7, 1932 – May 21, 2023

Jack passed away Sunday, 21 May 2023, at the Belleville General Hospital in his 91st year.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia, and his children, Georgia Lee O’Shaughnessy and son, John, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and brother Jim.  Predeceased by parents Edith and Jack Hatch and two sisters, Shirley, and June.

Jack joined the O.P.P. in 1956; his first posting was to Mount Forest, where he met Georgia; they were married in 1958.  From Mount Forest, he transferred to the Kincardine, Owen Sound, Chapleau and Gananoque Detachments. There, he ended his career in 1992 as a Staff Sergeant and the Detachment Commander.

For the next 20 years, he and Georgia operated their own little landscaping business, ‘Hatchways’, in the Gananoque area.  Finally at the age of 81, he ‘officially’ retired in 2013, and he and Georgia moved to be with John in the Mountain View area of Prince Edward County.

Jack loved his life, his family, his dogs, and all his many friends.  He loved the outdoors, fishing, the hunt camp, gardening and playing cards.

All his life he was an active member of the United Church; over 50 years a member of the Masonic Order; many years as the manager of minor hockey and baseball teams in Gananoque.

A life well lived, to be remembered by all. We will miss you, Jack!

Grief is the price we pay for love.
