Rick was devoted to the love of his life Patricia. Together they thoroughly enjoyed their beautiful home on Howe Island and deeply cherished all of their extraordinary friends and neighbours. Rick was a supportive and caring partner to Patricia. His heart was bigger than life itself. He was passionate about friends, food and drink, boating, gardening, and had an unconditional love for animals.
His appetite for food was as large as his heart. He often told the story of eating 12 hamburgers in one sitting as a Paramedic. He would attend car auctions for many years and would stuff extra hot dogs in his pockets. He loved his food!
Rick rescued many animals throughout his life and career, both large and small. He has brought dogs, cats and birds into his home. Last summer he even saved a drowning Monarch butterfly which he brought home on his boat to Pat. Together they nurtured it back to health and set it free. He was a friendly humble giant that would help anything and everything. He truly cherished all walks of life!
Rick was positive and determined, always persevering and inspiring others to do the same. His legacy will continue to live on through his words, his actions, and the countless lives he touched during his time with us. His home on Howe Island and his outlook on life will live on through Pat, Brandon, Rick's beloved stray cat (Kit Kat) and all of those who cared for him.
Rest in peace, Rick. You will be deeply missed and loved forever. We love you! You were Pat's true, one and only "Honey Bunny".
