Michael Andrew Oster

1953 - 2023

The peaceful passing of Michael Andrew Oster on April 9, 2023 marked the end of his 69 years as a devoted husband, extraordinary father, loving son, brother and friend.

Michael grew up in the city of Toronto where he attended Brebeuf College School and the University of Toronto where he studied engineering. He began his career in technology sales in Toronto before moving to Ottawa, where he met his wife and together raised their family. Michael had an impressive career, serving as National Director for the Public Sector for an international technology company and later acting as the President of a non-profit organization devoted to enhancing community economic development in the Ottawa area.

Michael was also a dedicated member of his community, acting as the Project Lead for the first biodome garden built in Eastern Canada and constructing accessible raised garden beds for individuals with disabilities. Michael retired in Kingston, where he cherished time with his wife and daughters, immersed himself in the local community, enjoyed his time golfing, and continued his passion for gardening.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Laura (Dubyts), and his daughters, Madeline (David Power) and Rachel. Born to Frank and Helen Oster, Michael is survived by his sisters, Caroline (Ken) Collins and JoAnne (Don) Cameron, and his brothers, Frank (Dilays) and John (Catherine), and many affectionate nieces and nephews. The love in their family flows strong and deep, as they are left with memories of Michael to treasure and keep.

There will be a private Celebration of Life honoring Michael on April 29, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada: https://www.llscanada.org/site/SPageNavigator/donate.
