William (Bill) John Shine

1934 - 2023

The family of Bill Shine is saddened to announce his death on January 25, 2023 at Fox Run Retirement Home. After a long struggle with dementia, Bill died peacefully in his sleep. He is predeceased by his first wife Katherine and survived by his second wife of 22 years, Judith Gould, his step daughter Rebecca, and sister Mary Watt. Also survived by his nieces Laurel and Kathleen, several great nephews and nieces, and cousins. Bill grew up loving cars, first working with his father and then starting his own successful car parts business until his retirement. Born in Gananoque, he lived much of his life on Hill Island in a home he built in 1978. The family wishes to thank the staff of Fox Run for their great care and his friend Alan Bickerton for support over the years of Bill’s decline. He will be remembered and missed by many. A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held on April 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 pm  at the Tompkins Funeral Home, 63 Garden Street, Gananoque. Friends and Family are invited to join us to celebrate Bill’s amazing, long life. Please feel to bring photos and say a few words if you wish. The Celebration of Life will be followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 3:55 in the Chapel next door. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to either the St. Johns Catholic Church Restoration Fund or the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
