The Book of Tributes contains many fond memories that I also have of Darlene, my sister.
Darlene had such a gentle soul. She took everything that was handed to her in stride. For me personally, I have always been impressed and proud of how Darlene never used her epilepsy as an excuse to stop her from living her life to the fullest. Darlene was a source of strength.
It gives me great peace knowing that Darlene would have been comforted by the sight of Mom and Dad at the door waiting for her to show her the way.
I will miss you, but you will be in my heart.

"At school, Darlene liked doing Math and working with numbers. Thus, as she grew older, she was our "go-to-person" - with her good memory - for the dates of special events, people's birthdays / ages, and so on. However, Darlene may have had trouble identifying the little girl caught in the middle of the attached picture. That girl was Darlene at approximately 3 years of age. Indeed, Darlene was a natural blonde in her early years."

" Darlene was family-oriented. She loved and was proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darlene enjoyed being with them through thin and thick. She probably learned this kindness from Gram, our maternal grandmother, seen in the enclosed picture, dating back to 1970, the year in which Cristina was born."

" Darlene was a good sport and a joker. These attributes were shown on our late Sunday night car rides from our cottage on Elbow Lake to our home in Kingston. Bonnie and I would pretend to fall asleep, so our Dad would carry us into the house. Darlene would play along, and at times, pretend to be asleep as well."

"Since Darlene was six years older than I was, I remember her more when she was a teenager. Darlene was easy-going and patient. For example, when I was eight years old, she taught me how to ride her big bike. Darlene held the back of the seat and ran beside me until I was comfortable."
