Rev. Garry was one of the nicest most carrying people I know. He was always welcoming and with his beautiful wife Anne made sure your healing needs were met, with a sense of humour and lightness. You will be missed but what a journey.

Considered him a true friend. If the Presbyterian Church had the office of Bishop...he would have been one!
God bless to the family.

Mrs. Morton, Sue and Janet, Ironically I was thinking about your family this past weekend. The last time that I heard Rev. Morton preach was in Ottawa, Grey Cup Sunday 1988. Rev Morton made a point of finishing the service in a timely fashion so that people could get to the stadium and Grey Cup festivities. May you continue to live with the fond memories and love that you share as a family. Carol (Morden) Chechalk

My memories of Garry go back the 52nd Cub Pack/Scout Troop at Trinity Baptist Church in Hamilton from about 1947. His mother, Mabel, was a Cub leader (Baloo) and his dad, Dave, the coach of the Swim Team as well as one of the chefs at Camp Samac in Oshawa funded by the auto magnate Sam Mclaughlin. (Garry must have inherited his affable nature from his dad and his overt kindness from his mom.) Even at that early age, Garry was a natural leader as the Cubs' Senior Sixer, the epitome of 'hail fellow, well met', a trait that remained with him throughout his stay on this earth, ..., a guitar and banjo playing Presbyterian Minister who also had a notable singing voice. It was perhaps through a musical connection that he met Anne Matheson, the love of his life. They both attended Central Secondary School in Hamilton as did I (Larry Ridge) and my second wife (Miriam Kirton) who sang in the School's Triple Trio with Anne and wishes to be very fondly remembered to her. Only a few months ago I made a point of looking up the phone number that Garry had provided at his registration for the 2001 CSS Reunion. Fortunately it had not changed. After those 20+ years of being out of touch, we had an in-depth memory-filled conversation. It was only then that I learned of his long-standing membership and contribution to the Rotary Club and his connection to Rotarian Bill Miles, a CSS grad ('55) who had recently taken up residence in Gananoque. So news of Garry's passing was totally unexpected because he had seemed so full of life during our recent conversation. To Anne and all of Garry's family may Miriam and I express our most sincere condolences.

I just learned of Garry's passing. I thought the family would enjoy this picture from 1952 about the 52nd cub/scout swim team from Trinity Baptist Church in Hamilton Ontario. Gary is in the back row, far right, and his father Dave is in the middle of the back row. I'm still corresponding with several that are in the picture, after all these years. I have a few other pictures of Garry but thought this was the best one Ed (Eddie) White, Toronto, Ontario

Garry was such a wonderfully kind man and such a good friend to the Rotary Club of Gananoque. I only met Garry a few years ago when I moved here, but we connected right away. I know the club and all its members, past and present, will miss Garry's kindness, humour, and generousity. Our deepest sympathies. On behalf of the club, Barbara Fisk, President

So many fond memories of Garry and Anne over the years, a fellow Rotarian and dear friend. I’ll never forget that Garry was there for Whitney and I when we needed him the most when we loss a father and dear husband. Just knowing he cared was enough. He was so very devoted to Anne. You will be missed my friend.

So sorry to hear of Garry's passing. His sermons always included something relevant to the times including sports and especially music. Being born in Hamilton and not liking the Leafs, and in music, using the Dire Straits for the state of affairs in the world. His guitar - his singing in the choir - his joy of the ministry. Glad to have as a friend.
