When Peter mentioned that Beth was tired of the deer eating her plants, my, husband Harold "volunteered" to help solve the problem., I have forgotten how many years passed but Harold loved hunting in the backlands and helping Peter solve some other animal problems. !!! Unfortunately Harold predeceased Peter but the assistance of Beth and Peter in helping fulfill Harold's
burial wishes will always be much appreciated,
Damaris

My good friend Peter gave me 72 years of warm friendship - a lifetime of fond memories.
As the end drew near, it was good to be able to say goodbye, even if it was only with a handshake and not a hug so dreaded by
my friend.
How wonderful that a marriage that was brought about by the flip of a coin has resulted in a family of two fine sons, their spouses, and seven grandchildren ( six grand and one great-grand ). What special memories of Peter they will share at family get-togethers and special occasions. And if that is not enough, there still will be a few of his old friends around for a few years that can tell tales
of the "real" Peter Roode.
Condolences, Gary & Judy Clarke. De Watteville Island

We loved going to the movies and dinner afterwards with Peter and Beth. Carol and I could always count on the post movie discussions to go in many interesting directions. I loved his grumpy response to many topics of interest and his apparent abhorrence to the friendly hug, which he shied away from, but deeply and secretly enjoyed. His view of golf and his quiet ability afterwards to handle the gentle ribbing by fellow golfers was fun to observe. He struggled with Christianity but in the end he knew that his friends had something he should consider. I think he came around to Christianity like he secretly enjoyed the hug.
Cherished memories. Our love to Beth during this tough time! Bruce and Carol

Reading this wonderful tribute made me smile and sad at the same time. Smile, as I remember how many times Peter would be with us, and it was true, he always seemed interested in what we were doing and saying. Sad, as we already missed him & Beth as covid kept us away for the past two years. But one thing is for sure, the memories of so many happy times will last forever. Susie and Marceli
