Condolences for the loss of your mother and nana. But as expressed she lived a full and adventurous life. I have great memories of your mom at the many sporting events. Her enthusiasm was unwavering. Although her husband was seen more in the limelight, Mavis was the unsung hero behind the scenes. Like they say behind every great man is a great woman. And Mavis was certainly that. Personally I remember many welcoming parties at the Jeffries home after paddling regattas and the family friendship. Let the adventures continue Mavis. ❤️❤️❤️ Sandy Wright (Clare).

I was new to Gananoque in 2004 having retired there in 2003. I came to know Mavis through my love of junior hockey. She was the wife of Lou Jeffries, one of the founders of the Jr. B team and a director of the team. He was also one of the finest people you would ever have the privilege of knowing. And Mavis just loved to talk hockey. I mentioned to her that the rivalry between Gan and Westport was at a 'high level". "Hah"! said Mavis, "you should have been around when Napanee was the rival," It was war!! She went on to tell me about fans rocking team busses and players (and a referee) missing the bus home.
As I settled into the community it became quite obvious that the Jeffries clan was an integral part of this place, and Mavis played a key role.
We're gonna miss that smile Mavis!

Len, Joanne, Doug, Sherry and all of your families,
My deepest sympathies to everyone on the passing of your cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mavis was indeed a very kind and enthusiastic person to look up to. I loved working for Mavis at the Dairy Queen because she was a great manager and always tried to make the job fun. Any time you would meet Mavis anywhere years later, she always found time for her great big beautiful smile, share a few jokes and enjoy a quick conversation, no matter how busy she really was.
Although she may no longer be here in person, she will reside here forever in many very fond memories.

We would like to offer our condolences to the Jeffries family on the passing of your mother Mavis. Mrs. Jeffries was a very kind and hard working woman. I always enjoyed her pleasant smile and ready laughter at the Dairy Queen while she was making me a pineapple milkshake. She would always take her children down the parkway in the summer to swim at what we call Grey’s Beach. After swimming she would get her kids into the car and then she would load those of us who had walked down. Sometimes there would be ten of us in the car. She drove us all home. Of course that was before seat belt laws came into effect.
Rest In Peace Mavis. It was a pleasure to know both you and your husband Lou.

Chris and I were sorry to read of Mavis's passing, we both have very fond memories of time spent on McDonald Island with both your parents. As we bought the LPJ (Little Puddle Jumper) from your parents and knew them all our lives they looked out for us and our 2 little ones (Clay & Cassie) over the 9 years we had the Houseboat, always offering a helping hand when we pulled into the dock from our days adventure on the St Lawrence. I'll never forget Marvis and Lou telling us how happy they were we got the boat and how they loved to see us pull in sun kissed and happy telling them of the day we had. Mavis could never get over how we anchored out over night as she preferred to be securing "lashed" to the dock. Truly remarkable people, as mentioned "a life well spent". I'm sure your wonderful family memories and knowledge that she has joined her beloved Lou and Ryan will be a great comfort. Chris and Catharine Wright

My condolences to all the family on Mavis’s passing, I have many fond memories of bridge games, and lots of desserts with Mavis and Lou.
Mavis had a trip to New York City with myself and some girls, we all enjoyed. We never noticed Mavis was slightly older than we were; she was always fun, and ageless. A huge loss to the Gananoque community, and to all her friends, she will be missed.
Best wishes,
Marlene Young
