Worked with mike briefly in the army. In my 21 years in the military, he was a standout! As an old dude (lol), he wasn’t one to show the stress as easily as some of the younger troops.
A hard working, honest, kind soul (or a great actor, lol) that I feel fortunate enough to have had even a few memorable conversations with in our four months or so working together. Bumped into him a few years later in Kingston and picked up right where we left off.
Salut buddy, you will be missed.

My deepest condolences on your loss. I spent summer 2017 with Michael on our trade qualification course. He added so much to our cohort. His wry sense of humour brought cheer to stressful moments. He was such a beautiful, gentle soul and he made everyone around him feel better. He also has my favourite reason of all time for failing a test: he'd spent the weekend trying to get in a week's worth of organic farming in two days. I will also never fail to be impressed at him completing his Army officer's course above the age of fifty. I still share these anecdotes with other military members. He had such varied interests and experiences, from computer programming to organic farming to serving as a reservist in Ireland as a teenager. Michael was there for me at the start of my career, and I will hold him in my heart for the rest of my career and beyond.

Bernadette, Niamh and Liam,
We send our love and condolences to all of you! Michael was a great man and a wonderful story teller!
Michael and Tom had the fact that they both changed careers very late in life in common & I will always remember when Michael came to Tom’s good-bye party before he headed to RCMP depot!
He said his biggest piece of advice for Tom was “to just ‘medicate’ because you will be so sore everywhere! Take as many Advil as you can day and night!”
The way his eyes were wide opened and the way he said it, made me laugh when he said it and now when I think of it! “Just medicate!” He will be truly missed by all!
Love and prayers from Annette, Tom, Brianna(Josh) and Abigail
