Susan and Andrew,
I was sad to read of your dad's passing, but it triggered so many positive memories of my work with him and his devoted family. After his accident, Trevor insisted on going back to his two-storey home on the river, and doing the things he did before ... and he did it! He was a bit hard on us sometimes (and hard on his wheelchair and the walls too!) but he thrived - a testimony to others who encounter adversity in their lives.
The last time I spoke with him was about two years ago, when I called to seek his permission to include photos of him in his accessible kitchen for an online teaching module for Spinal Cord Injury Ontario. He initially refused, but a few days later I received an email with the go ahead. Some things never change.
Sincerest condolences and a warm, virtual hug to you both,
Kathy Pringle

I came into Trevor's life almost 15 years ago, as a PSW who was recommended by my mentor and teacher..they needed someone "strong and capable" for this specific client. What they didn't know, is Trevor was the one who was strong and capable. I have never met such an inspirational person in my life. There was nothing he couldn't accomplish once he set his mind to it. Although his ideas were not always "safe"..they were creative and determined. We had such a great relationship..not the normal caregiver/client type. We would tease each other to no end, share stories and laughs..we had disagreements, hard days..it wasn't perfect..but it was us. He would tell every new hire..and there were ALOT..you listen to Michelle, you won't find anyone better than her..plus, she's scary. Lol. There wasnt a shift go by that I didn't learn something from him. He had so much knowledge and loved to share. His sense of humor never wavered, and his use of puns was always worth a giggle..or a groan. His concern for the well being of his kids and PSW team was always strong, he never put himself first. There was nothing he wanted more, than to see his kids happy and well..and Tim's coffee with a side of McDonald's cheeseburger and fries. I can't count how many drive thrus we've been to! Anyway, there really are no words for the impact he had on every life of the people who crossed his path..mine included. He taught me so much in our time together..life lessons I will carry with me forever. I promised him once years ago, that I'd stick with him as long as he wanted me to..and that we'd do the best we could with what life gave us. I was able to fulfill that promise to him..I was with him when he passed. He took a little piece of me with him, but he left me with so much more. We did it Trev. Not goodbye, see you later alligator. Much love and respect, Michelle aka That Hussey Woman xo

Trevor was an adventurous man over his lifetime, more recently his popular destinations were Timmy’s for coffee and shopping at CTC looking for that unique must have item. In spite of his devastating injury he perserveried and faced life head on, Trevor was an inspiration of how to handle adversity. He will be missed by family and friends.
