CARMICHAEL, Joseph Donald Correctional Service of Canada (Ret’d) January 6th 1939-January 2nd 2021 At home with his beloved wife Sharon by his side. Joe’s career with CSC spanned 32 years, the majority of which was spent as a Recreation Officer at Joyceville Institution. Joe’s love for sport and recreation made this the ideal position for him. He loved being outdoors and spent many summers with his family camping on Dog Lake. Joe was a people person at heart and never missed an opportunity to engage in conversation with friends and strangers alike. After retiring from CSC in 1998, Joe spent many of his summer’s steps from his front porch working on the dock for the Gananoque Boat Line. This allowed Joe to meet and chat with people from around the world. Joe would then spend many of his winter months enjoying a drink or two on the beach or near pool at the Southeaster in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Joe is predeceased by daughter Kate Coyle. He will be missed greatly by wife and best friend Sharon. Dear Brother to Jerry (Veronica). Much loved Dad to Kate, Kerry (Aaron), Donny (Tanya), and Robert. Cherished Poppa to Noa, Gavin, and Reagan. Joe will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Due to current restrictions, a private family interment will be held at the Gananoque Cemetery.
