Dear Judy,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Dr. Barnett. As an Anatomy Master's student in 1980 - 1982, I have many fond memories of Dr. Barnett. He truly was a gentleman and scholar. He always had a smile and although he was not my thesis supervisor, Dr. Barnett always made time to chat with me about my research interests related to anatomy. I recall his hard work ethic, frequently working in his office, in the Old Anatomy building, on Saturday mornings. As I recall, he often mentioned that he was looking forward to picking up donuts to enjoy with his family later that day. I also recall seeing Dr. Barnett as a patient in the KGH ER, during my early resident years, and remember his calm and patient demeanour, despite the obvious discomfort that I know he was experiencing, while he was awaiting test results. In retrospect, Dr. Barnett was a strong role model for me during the the 80's and 90's as I accumulated more responsibilities at work while attempting to maintain a healthy work/life (family) balance. I also enjoyed the last conversation that had with Dr. Barnett a few years ago, when you and Dick graciously attended our JDRF fundraising dinner. I know that Dr. Barnett will be missed by his family, friends and colleagues as well as his many former students in the Queen's community.
Sincerely, Stephen and Kelly Bagg

My deepest condolences to Judy and all of Dick’s family. Dick was my Masters supervisor when Anatomy was still in the Old Anatomy Building back in the mid-80’s, prior to moving up to Botterell Hall. He was a gentleman and a scholar, with a good sense of humour, and was a great support as a supervisor. Although I went on to work as a surgeon at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, and lost touch with Dick over the years, I have recently returned to Kingston and my first inquiry with old colleagues was after his well being. I am saddened as much at his passing as I am at having missed the opportunity to speak with him once more and thank him for all his support in my early years as a student. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. God’s speed my friend on your final journey.
