It was always fun when Uncle Ken would come to Oakville in the 70's to take care of us when Mom and Dad went away. He would go through cookbooks and made us great dinners. He loved hosting our dinners! I also remember Uncle Ken teaching me how to dock a boat at our old cottage. He had a beautiful wooden boat. I remember it seemed so fancy with the dark shellac. He was pretty patient with me and my countless attempts to land the boat... didn't even seem to mind when I actually hit the nose of the boat on the dock and took his lights off! Over the summers when we were at the cottage, and we were in town, if our paths crossed, a long chat would take place. He was always so genuinely interested in hearing about all of our updates. Rest in Peace, Uncle Ken - our fond memories of you will help to keep our sadness at bay. Your niece, Trish

Thinking of Ken driving the old blue ford in Windsor Lane to pick me up to go to Cliffe Craft down old #2. At lunch I would get to drive it home by myself. That's what a good friend will do. My condolences to the family. David Mabee

Love seeing all the different memories being shared here. He was the eldest sibling of a large and loving family. We always enjoyed the stories about his work on boats in the 1000 islands and his trips to Mexico. Rest in peace Uncle Ken.

To the Hawkins family, our condolences. Ken was, like you all, a pretty integral part of south shore life (and a few other places !) for our family for many years. Thinking of you and Ken, and all those boats with perfect finishes; his distinctive laugh and his altruistic nature.

I will remember Uncle Ken for his gift of the gab! Whenever we would see each other there would be nice long conversations about this favorite topics. What he was up to, his latest visit to Toronto, how much he loved his trips to Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta, and his adventures on the flea market circuit! In his later years, he and I had some nice visits at Carveth. He always spoke so highly of his friend and helper Lisa, whom we are so grateful for her support and friendship with Ken. My cousin Janet (another niece of Ken) reminded me today of how often we would stop into his place in town while we spent a summer in Gananoque. We`d share a cup of tea, have a visit and often get a haircut by Ken`s friend Harry. RIP Uncle Ken xo. Your niece Cris
