Hi there, I'm Michelle MacInnis, I was good friends with Kate when we were young, I met her in high school in Ottawa. I just recently found out about Kate's passing. I live in Vancouver now, and my sister (Lisa Lawlor) works for CFC in Kingston and saw Joe's obituary and told me about it. Sorry to hear about Joe as well.
Anyway, I just wanted to say how sorry I am to Kate's family. She always talked about you and loved you so much.
Kate, I'm sorry we grew apart. Maybe because you were so mature beyond your years (and I was not!), a result of everything you had been through. Life is not fair, but you found a way to use your time well and give back and bring new life into the world. You were always a giver, and your legacy will be all the babies that were born, and all the people and animal's lives that you touched for the better. We should all be so lucky to leave such a mark on the world.
Love you, and I will always remember you laughing.

My condolences to the whole family. Kate was such an old soul. She would give anything to anyone if they wanted it. I remember when she was going to work at the olympics, she was so excited. I asked her to get me something small as a remembrance and next thing I know her mom walks in shortly after with two mugs. I still have those mugs and now have an even bigger remembrance to them. My heart goes out to Sharon and family during this very difficult time. As a one time neighbour and friend, I am deeply saddened by Kate's passing. I will always remember our visits whether it was over a cup of tea or a knitting chat, we always shared a laugh. Her love of animals was special, especially her love for Murphy and her cats, that she rescued and raised at a few weeks old, I got to be a part of their lives too. Kate was a bright light that shone for everyone. I am so Blessed to have known Kate and will miss her always.
