Lesley "Jane" McEwen (née Pappas) Passed away peacefully on June 27, 2020 at age 77, surrounded by her loving family, at Fairmount Home, in Glenburnie. Jane was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1942. In 1963 she married her beloved husband, Fred, spending many happy years on their farm in Joyceville. A woman of great personality, she remained feisty until the very end. She was said to have been quite mischievous as a child, and never lost her sense of humour or playful nature. Many joyful years were spent with extended family where she was always ready with a good joke. If Jane was around, you always knew there was laughter to be had. Jane was the sort of person that would give her grandchildren all of the delicious treats that they weren’t allowed to eat, even if their parents were in the room. It was no secret that her grandchildren were her most precious gifts of all. When “Nanny” was around, everyone felt like they could have fun. Though remarkably kind, she was never afraid to speak directly, a trait admired in her by many. Her life was one of giving the best she could, and she always did so for those she loved. She spent many happy days golfing and bowling with her friends. Country music and Elvis were her favourites, and she listened to them as loudly as she pleased. She was a lifelong animal lover with many pets over the years, always talking and playing games with them. Jane was also a precise family historian, leaving behind a treasure trove of neatly labelled documents and photographs as a gift to future generations. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred McEwen (d. 2010) and by her brother Alex Pappas (d. 2010). She will be dearly missed and forever cherished by her children Shelley McEwen (Anil), Sherry Brown, Laurie McEwen, and Jeff McEwen (Samantha); her grandchildren Sky (Jeremy), Lake (Maria), Chance, Olivia, Ronan, and Cole; her daughter-in-law Allison McEwen; her sisters Diane Pappas and Judy Smith; and her dear friend Penny Watson. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, PSWs and staff of Fairmount Home for their kindness, care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations would be graciously accepted by Fairmount Home using the following link and including Jane McEwen in the "Add a Note" field. https://www.frontenaccounty.ca/en/fairmounthome/donate-now.aspx Due to COVID-19, a private family service will take place. A celebration of Jane’s life will be planned at a later date. In honour of Jane's spirit - Live, love, laugh, and let the good times roll.
