Obituary of Viola Marcella Bailey

Bailey, Viola Marcella Viola Bailey, 89, of Gananoque, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 10, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (nee Dingman) Lafirst. Loving mother to Charles (Franca), beloved grandmother to Chuck (Tracy), (Eddie, deceased), Allen (Tara), Sue (John), Candy, Kyle, Darren (Cartney). She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. Viola was known for her honesty and spirit. She had a keen sense of fashion, love for shopping, and a sharp eye for bargains. She loved making crafts for her family, friends and fundraisers, and always had something on the go. Viola was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Much of her life was dedicated to the Salvation Army, and supporting the church. Her no-nonsense, compassionate approach helped adults overcome drug and alcohol addiction, and helped guide youth to recognize their value and make better life choices. She felt if you saw a need and had the ability to help, don’t think about helping, just do it. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home on Friday January 17 from 1:00 pm until time of service in our chapel at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
