I may not of known Wanda for long but what I do know is that she was a thoughtful, loving and caring person. I was fortunate enough to share a couple of meals and lots of laughs with Brett, Brendan and her. She will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with Brendan, Brett and the family in tough times...

I wish to convey my deepest and sincere condolences to Brendan, Brett, Gwen, and the rest of Wanda’s family and friends –may love be what you remember most.
I was so lucky and privileged to have you in my life, to call you friend and my Soul Sister, “a female friend not related by blood who shares a bond that transcends time, space and distance. Someone who changes everything, will cheer you up when you are down, laughs with you until your stomach hurts and make you feel at home when you are away.”
I miss you, my dear friend, and our phone calls. I miss hearing “is this Lisa Peverelly?” or “is this Fishy Face?”
We shared so many wonderful experiences and adventures together with laughter and with tears. I’ll reminisce on those memories over an extra spicy Caesar on the 11th of January. You will always be… sister of my soul and the friend of my heart.

I met Wanda late 1990 or early 1991 at the United States Naval Facility Whidbey Island, Washington State. Wanda was a fresh-faced 23-year-old Ordinary Seaman. After a few days of working with Wanda, I knew she was special. Wanda was extremely intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated. She was fearless, never afraid to accept any challenge I threw at her. Wanda was the sailor that every supervisor wanted and I was the lucky one that had her on my watch. She made my job so easy.
Wanda was selfless at work; she was always the first person to help her co-workers, teaching, coaching, and mentoring them. She made every day, evening and midnight watch so much fun, always up to some kind of fun devilment.
After getting to know Wanda away from work, I quickly learned there was so much more to Wanda than the consummate professional sailor. She was a caring, kind, and a giving person, the most honest and genuine person I have ever met.
Wanda earned the nickname “The Wild Thing.” Her nickname came from her free and adventurous spirit. No matter what we were doing or where we went, there was never a dull moment; we always had so much fun. We laughed so hard our stomachs hurt. You couldn’t help but love Wanda.
Through the years we kept in touch, but I hadn’t seen Wanda since our days in Whidbey. The day she showed up at my retirement in June, I almost fainted and felt such overwhelming joy; she made me feel so special. It was like time had never passed, and we picked up right we left off. I am so grateful for those two days in June.
The angels looked down from heaven one night.
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.
They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven,
Forever to remain.
Look down on us from heaven.
Keep us free from hurt and pain.
You'll always be within my heart
Until we meet again.
Brett, Brendan, and your family please accept my condolences. Phyllis Williams

I was lucky to have Wanda as a room mate many years ago while we were posted with Navy to Whidbey Island, WA. The mischief we got into, we had good times. I even had the pleasure to meet her parents over the holiday season when Wanda invited to her parents home. We tromped around Ottawa, met her Grandma and had a great time. After many years we reunited this summer for a college’s retirement. It was one of the best, laughter filled weekends with all of the ladies. I had great conversations with Wanda and the best laughs in a long time. We both remarked that it was just like yesterday, how easy we resumed our friendship. That twinkle in her eye, her concern for those around her and her joy in the small things. She was our official photographer for our mini- tourism trips - as much as we hated it- thank you for the memories my friend. I’ll miss the late night video calls and your beautiful photos you posted. But more than anything I will miss your vibrance. Heaven has gained a mischievous angel and I am heartbroken for this. Brett, Brendan, and your family please accept my condolences. Tammy Stewart

My sincerest condolences to Brett and family,
I was fortunate to be a work colleague of Wanda's between 1990 and 1992 at the Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Whidbey Island Washington. So, I only had the good fortune to be influenced by her personality and generosity for a very short time. I was so impressed by her big brains (she was amazing at her job...a jezebel wizard) and her infectious sense of humour. She lit up any room she entered and at a party she was typically the center (or cause of) any mischief.
A large personality and a large heart; RIP Wanda the world was a better place with you in it.

Sarah and I are so sorry for your loss. Wanda was a wonderful person and will be missed. My fondest memory was her terming our friendship as a "bromance." A comment Sarah wholeheartedly agreed with.

A few years ago, Brett and Wanda opened their door to me for an overnight stay en route to a conference in Montreal. When I pulled out my guitar and belted out a couple songs, Wanda listened carefully and was very kind and encouraging. Few people have the gift of being so kind and attenticd that it breaks down a person's inhibitions. Wanda made me feel comfortable and at home in a place I had never been to before. Wanda - I'll remember that evening each time I write with Brett or pass through Gan in my travels.

Wanda was a generous, compassionate and kind lady! I first met Wanda in the Navy, and she subsequently became one of my bosses! She was hard working, honest, and someone I could look up to as a leader!
I was so happy to see her find her true love, Brett and become a wonderful Mother to their son and step Mother to Brett's girls!
She will always be remembered in my prayers. Rest in peace beautiful lady!! Your footprints where left on my heart too!
May you all find peace and comfort in the coming months!
