Leakey: Thomas

Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family in his 99^th year, Allan Thomas passed away at the Carveth Care Centre, November 21.  Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Viola Ruth (Gunnlaugson) and son Barney. Beloved father of Margaret Crowe (Elliott Cohen), Mary Dickson (Doug Jones) and Gordon (Ginny). Cherished grandfather of Jeff (Cathie), Richard (Aimee), Julie (James), Ross (Samantha), Adam (Melanie) and Nicole (Aaron). Extremely proud great grandfather of thirteen. Much loved brother of Stuart (Beth deceased). Predeceased by siblings Wilfred (Edna), Ernest (Bernice), Edith (Jack), Ralph (Hazel), Russell, Irene (Walter), and Pearl (Oliver). Lovingly remembered by sister in laws Grace Leakey, Edith Ridsdale and Joan Gunnlaugson and by brother in law Walter Gunnlaugson. Tom was an avid farmer and carpenter admired and respected by all who had the good fortune to know him. A huge thank you to the amazing kind considerate staff at Carveth who cared for our father so compassionately for the last year and a half. Special thanks to Patricia and Isabelle for all their love and support over the many years. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home on Saturday November 30 from 11:00 am until time of Memorial Service in our chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Willowbank Cemetery. A Reception and celebration of Tom’s Life will then take place at the Royal Canadian Legion. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Grace United Church or to Willowbank cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
