Passed away peacefully at the Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque, on Sunday October 27, 2019 just shy of his 88^th birthday. Beloved husband of Jeannine (Dion) for 60 years. Loving father of David (Penny Baker), Kathy (Stephen Haffie) and Susan (John McBain). Dear grandfather of Stefanie, Brad, Matthew, Jason, William, Hannah and Ben. Predeceased by his many brothers and sisters. He will be missed by his brother and sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held from our chapel on Wednesday October 30^th at 11:00 am. Interment Lansdowne Cemetery. Thank you to the many caregivers at Carveth Care Centre. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Gibson Family Health Care Charitable Foundation or to the St. Lawrence Medical Centre would be appreciated by the family. Bill was a proud Maritimer, born in Minto NB in 1931. He came to Ontario in 1954, working in lumber camps along the way. After working on moving houses to make way for the St. Lawrence Seaway, Bill got a job with the Trans Canada Pipeline where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He continued to work with them independently for many years. Bill will be remembered most for his love and talent in country music. He played guitar and sang his whole life. His hometown of Minto inducted him into their Music Hall of Fame. He loved being outdoors and working with wood. He would light whenever he was with his grandkids. He was devoted to his wife and kids, he will be missed.
