Ruby Margaret Galway (née Clark)

June 18, 1920 – June 25, 2019

Ruby passed away peacefully at Fox Run Retirement Residence on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at the age of 99. Predeceased by Joseph Galway, her husband of 71 years, her parents Jane and William Clark, and brothers Edwin and Donald. Much loved mother of James (Judy), Janis (Harry) and Susan (Chris). Cherished grandmother of Shawn, Andrew, Greg, Mark, Katie, Laura and David. Great grandmother of Zoe. Ruby grew up on a farm near Gananoque, moving as a young woman to Toronto where she trained as a nurse at Toronto General Hospital. She returned to Gananoque to raise a family with Joseph, and care for elderly loved ones. Throughout her life, Ruby had a strong faith and commitment to community. She was an active member of Grace United Church, providing important leadership to the UCW. All those who knew her benefited from her loving and generous spirit. A visitation will be held at Tompkins Funeral Home on Saturday July 6 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service in Grace United Church at 1:00 pm. Interment at Willowbank Cemetery followed by a reception back at Grace United Church. Donations to remember Ruby can be made to Grace United Church or Willowbank Cemetery. The family is deeply grateful to Heather Howard and the staff at Fox Run for taking loving care of their mother.
